Ali Lacayo

Ali is MTIP’s inaugural Social Services Advocate. As an impacted person who was previously incarcerated, Ali has spent the last five years working not only to reestablish themselves in the community but helping others to do so as well.

Prior to working with MTIP, Ali worked as Senior Community Organizer for Welcome Back, a local re-entry organization in Missoula. Their passion for community organizing comes from a deep commitment to anti-racism, justice, shared power, and democracy.

Ali’s leadership style has always been to work with and not over or for returning citizens. What they love most is helping people uncover the power that they have always had, and to use it in advocacy for themselves and others – whether that be through mutual aid, organizing, or getting out to vote. They strive to create supportive and safe spaces where people can stand by one another, looking to the future and celebrating growth. Ali is very much committed to the work and mission of MTIP and is eager for the reforms that lie ahead.
