
John Lewis lives in Helena, MT and has dedicated his career to working with people and advocating for solutions that will have a positive impact on Montanans lives.
Born in Billings and raised in Missoula, John draws on 25 years of policy, government, management, and consulting experience in Montana and Washington D.C.
John served in the Cabinet of Montana Governor Steve Bullock, as the Director of the Department of Administration (DOA). After Governor Bullock appointed John, he was unanimously confirmed by the Montana State Senate during the 2017 Legislature.
Previously, John served for 12 years as a top advisor and Montana State Director to U.S. Senator Max Baucus. John worked on many issues for Senator Baucus, including spearheading legislation giving business incentives to hire veterans. John’s role as listener and leader brought him to every community in Montana. In 2011, John traveled to all 56 counties across Montana, meeting with every mayor of the state’s 129 incorporated cities and towns to highlight the challenges and opportunities of Montana’s diverse communities.
In addition to his work as President of Sentinel LLC Consulting, John currently serves as the Executive Director of Impact Montana, a 501c3 non-profit whose mission is to help service members, veterans, first responders and their families define their purpose, connect with health and community solutions, and strive for what they value.
