John Lovi received his B.A. in Philosophy and Economics at Columbia College in 1983 before graduating from Yale Law School in 1986. He was a trial lawyer for several law firms on Wall Street, focusing mostly on securities and financial issues. He later founded and was the Managing Partner of the New York Office of the DC law firm Steptoe & Johnson LLP.
After retiring from the full-time practice of law, John set up a family office investment firm, Altura Capital LLC, in 2016 where he invests personal assets in various ventures and other opportunities, primarily with former clients.
“As a lawyer, who believes strongly in the power and importance of Justice in our society and for our democracy, the idea that our government could allow a person to be incarcerated for a crime they did not commit is an abomination,” John said. “It is difficult to imagine anything worse.”
Outside of work, John enjoys cooking, mountain biking, cycling, golfing, and traveling.
