The Montana Innocence Project is deeply saddened to report that the Montana Supreme Court denied the appeal of our client Kelly Worthan’s Post Conviction Relief Petition Tuesday. We are committed to thoroughly reviewing all viable legal remedies to correct Kelly’s wrongful conviction. We will update you as next steps are identified.
Because Kelly’s case is sealed, we have been unable to share his wrongful conviction story and the evidence of his innocence. However, we can tell you about the person behind the wrongful conviction. Kelly is a loving father who talks to his son nearly every day. He is one of only four incarcerated college students at Montana State Prison. He is studying liberal arts and is also a talented artist specializing in crocheting. He’s a music lover – whose MP3 features everything from Talking Heads to Ed Sheeran – and a humanitarian whose professional dreams include criminal legal reform work and aiding in foreign crises.
If you would like to send Kelly a supportive message during this difficult time, comment on the most recent post on our social media accounts. We are on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram @BigSkyInnocence. We will compile the comments and mail them to Kelly.
