UM students study access to legal resources at Montana Women’s Prison

Elysse Conklin, Spencer Hill, Bianca Bostrom, and Kristy Halderman at the Montana Women’s Prison prior to conducting legal access survey

University of Montana School of Business and Social Work students conducted a study on access to legal resources at Montana Women’s Prison last fall. We are excited to share the results!

Importantly, the students looked at how people incarcerated at MWP find information about legal services like ours and their level of confidence in accessing them. The students conducted surveys in-person at the prison and analyzed the data to make the recommendation that MTIP conduct further outreach at the prison through various media types. We are currently in conversations to make this happen and hope to have updates for you soon!

In the meantime, check out the students’ impressive report linked below. We are so grateful for their interest in our work and passion for expanding access to legal resources.
